* The Advisory Board of Brainstorm - The ADHD Association Portugal is a dynamic and informal entity, being made up of individuals who share an interest in contributing to the Association's objectives. The selection of board members follows strict criteria, aiming to bring together people whose profiles are relevant to the Association's mission. The selection process is ongoing, allowing the board to evolve organically throughout the Association's lifespan. The board functions as an advisory group, and its members, through their experience and knowledge in various areas, may offer ideas and suggestions that will provide valuable and diverse perspectives to guide the Association's strategic directions. There is no formal link between board members and the Association, their contributions are advisory in nature, and the Association maintains its autonomy in decisions and in the information it disseminates. There are no formal obligations or responsibilities for board members, nor are they bound to the information provided by the Association.
VISION
To establish itself as the primary reference in promoting awareness, support, and inclusion of individuals with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) in Portugal, thereby contributing to a more informed, inclusive, and egalitarian society that acknowledges, values, and leverages neurodiversity.
MISSION
To champion the interests of the ADHD community, giving them a voice,
promoting inclusive policies,and raising public awareness.
To support individuals with ADHD and those around them by intervening on individual, social, and community levels, providing the necessary resources, and aiming for better opportunities and quality of life.
OBJECTIVES
To promote knowledge and health literacy about ADHD among healthcare and education professionals, businesses, and the general population.
To fight stigmatization, misinformation, and barriers to inclusion faced by the ADHD population.
To support the ADHD population in education, professional careers, access to healthcare, and other areas relevant to their well-being.
To improve access to and the quality of ADHD diagnostic and follow-up services.
To promote the exchange of experiences and interaction among people with ADHD.
To stimulate research that enhances knowledge about ADHD and meets the community's interests, disseminating it in scientific, political, social, and general forums to substantiate qualitative gainsin ADHD literacy based on scientific evidence.
To intervene with public and private organizations to promote the adoption of existing laws and public policies, aiming to adapt school methodologies, change workplace paradigms, and other relevant areas for the real inclusion of people with ADHD.
To promote the creation of laws and public policies that ensure access to diagnosis, treatment, medication, and all necessary medical, educational, and workplace accommodations to foster the development of abilities, dignity, equity, and respect for the characteristics of people with ADHD.
To foster the creation of laws and policies that contribute to the achievement of the other objectives and to contribute to the development of programs aimed at raising awareness among key educational, health, inclusion, and social support structures.
To adopt evidence-based practice as a fundamental pillar of its activity.
